Happy New Year to you all.
Well that didn’t quite go as planned.
Wake up have a nice breakfast in bed with Maddie and chat to Archie about the coming arrival and the plans of the year.
Go for a nice walk and watch the Balinese preparations for New Year’s Eve.
Take some lunch at our favourite restaurant.
Make afternoon love.
Spend the evening sharing a bottle of wine (well more me downing the bottle but allowing Maddie a token sip)
Listen to the fireworks and celebrate together at the stroke of midnight.
How it actually when down.
Woke up with Maddie had breakfast in bed. Said good morning to Archie then checked Maddie’s blood pressure. She’s been concerned about her blood pressure for the last week as it been high 140/90 no protein in her urine or other worrying symptoms but still high blood pressure. “would you like to see a doctor?” I ask.
Make an appointment with hospital for ultrascan and blood tests.
Check out times to see the new Star Wars film thinking ok we could do something a little different this new year and as we have to go to the only town in Bali where there is a cinema why not.
Hire a car and drive to Denpasar. (Have you ever driven in Bali!!!! Many many people seem not to want to see in the new year and I suspect many had started celebrations early)
Find the hospital arrrrghh!
Have an ultra sound scan- all is good but doctor is concerned about high blood pressure and wants to induce Maddie now…today this minute…on New Year’s eve when Star Wars is starting in an hour and a half. We compromise and ask for more tests before making a decision like that.
Go to another hospital for a series of tests on urine, blood, baby’s heart beat etc etc…Star War early evening showing come and gone.
All test come back fine but doc still wants to induce now tonight. The idea of having a natural birth in the beautiful birthing clinic with midwives who sing the baby into the world has been replaced by a pushy doc who wants to induce in a harsh hospital environment on NYE.
Convince the doc and ourselves that high blood pressure but no other symptoms is not a need to deliver baby tonight but might be something to think about.
Doctor ALLOWS us to go home!!!
Arrive home just in time to celebrate New Year.
Have yourselves a very happy 2016.
