When I was a child I would spend many weeks making a nest (or a mess as my mum would call it) in my bedroom, once complete I'd relocate to the spare room, then onto inhabit any other available work, play, life space, eventually returning to the first to undo and renew, recreating space in restlessness. Onwards into adulthood pictures have been moved and furniture rearranged quite consistently in every living space, spinning newness from old treasures hauled from base to base. Friends would call this Sagittarian spirit, loved ones lived with might use the word annoying! 'darling where exactly is the sofa'? Never been one to settle for long and now when faced with the arrival of my first child I'm lucky enough to have happily arrived in love with another bonkers troubadour to set sail with when so many holla 'cast an anchor!' No trust fund, no houses sold to fund us, only one national insurance number and not much cash in the bank between us, just an owl and a pussycat and a beautiful not to see green baby we hope! My biggest asset being a partner I'd trust with my wildest dreams and the conviction that we will wing our way through many weathers because, well we are having a baby so we bloody well have to!
So having packed up life in England in October with no plan as such but many calculations much to the horror of our mothers (I'm quite certain I'll understand this imminently), here we are in Ubud Bali at 38 weeks pregnant, it's bloody hot, I'm mahoosive, and I wish I were in the Yorkshire Dales with the heating on! Many of you may have seen the fundraiser we are running for Bumi Sehat, the natural birthing centre and community health clinic here, where all 'going to plan' we shall be welcoming baby Archie into the world, whilst supporting many other families to give birth safely in the process! https://www.generosity.com/medical-fundraising/help-women-give-birth-in-a-safe-environment
Archie is due on January 13th....... Since stepping off stage in August having completed my final acting job before a pause for new adventures, we have slept in 12 different beds in 12 different locations. We have been nesting, nesting in our own fashion be it unconventional, collecting branches on route to wrap around a family life that we imagine. So far happy, healthy, momentarily loosing our shit, mostly excitable and industrious hard at work and open to the Unknown. Watch this space!
